Privacy

Printscii has no accounts and sets no cookies. Your photos stay in your browser.

Your pictures

Photos, the camera and screen captures are converted on your device and never uploaded. The last photo you opened, your saved maps and a list of the files you bought are kept in your browser's storage, so they survive a reload. Clearing your browser's data for printscii.com removes them. Photos sent from a terminal (curl -F [email protected] printscii.com) are the exception: they are converted on our server and then discarded.

Usage statistics

We count page views and which features are used (for example, opening Export or downloading a file) with Seline, which uses no cookies and keeps no personal profiles. Your IP address is passed to Seline to filter out bots and is not stored by us.

Maps

Places loads map tiles from OpenFreeMap, elevation from Terrain Tiles on AWS, and sends what you type in search to Photon (komoot). Opening /places asks Cloudflare roughly where your connection is, to start the map nearby; that answer isn't kept. A map you share is stored as a picture and a link for a year. To limit abuse, shares are counted per hour under a scrambled form of your address, deleted after two days.

Payments and email

Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card. Stripe asks for your email address and sends the receipt. We keep what Stripe tells us about the purchase (what was bought, and whether it was paid) to unlock your file. If you write to us through the contact form or register interest in prints, we receive your email address and message, use them only to reply, and don't share them.

Questions

Write to [email protected], including to ask us to delete anything we hold about you.
